We live in an oak forest, which means we don't get vivid fall colors. Oak trees are notorious for turning brown, and then taking forever for the leaves to fall off the trees. I heard a joke recently: "how do you know spring is coming? The oak leaves finally fall off." It does feel brown and blah most of the fall and winter in our forest (until the white snow falls).
But this weekend, with the warm sunny weather, I saw the most color I've ever seen here:
